WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The state rested its case in the murder trial against William Fambro, the man accused of killing a woman he was reportedly dating, Teresa Hunter, at the Riverview Motel in October.
Prosecutors called several scientific experts on Wednesday, including Trumbull County Coroner Doctor Humphrey Germaniuk, who testified that Hunter was shot six times.
Several experts with the Ohio Bureau for Criminal Investigation also took the witness stand, including a firearms specialist and a forensic scientist, who testified she found a DNA profile consistent with Fambro’s on a washcloth.
“The statistic for this profile is one in 2,174 male individuals, so that means I would expect to have to test approximately 2,000 other unrelated individuals to find this profile again,” said Erica Jimenez, of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
The defense will call their witnesses, beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. Closing arguments are also expected to take place Thursday.
