Trumbull FIU investigating abandoned church fire

WARREN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County’s Fire Investigation Unit started investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a vacant church Wednesday.

A neighbor called 911 when that person drove by the abandoned Faith Temple Church of God in Christ on Risher Road around midnight.

When Warren City and Township Firefighters got there, flames had already filled the empty house of worship.

Warren Township Fire Chief Ken Schick believes someone purposely started the fire, because there were no utilities running to the building. Firefighters estimate the Faith Temple Church was abandoned more than five years ago.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene on Wednesday to investigate.
