Judge releases list of Mill Creek MetroParks Board applicants

16 people have applied for two open Park Board of Commissioners' positions

On Monday, the Mill Creek Board of Trustees had its monthly meeting, and WKBN asked when the water test results would be available.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – There are two vacancies on the Mill Creek MetroParks Board of Commissioners and 16 people have applied for the jobs.

The deadline to apply was at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and Mahoning County Probate Judge Robert Rusu released the names shortly after the deadline had passed. The two positions were made vacant by the recent resignations of Scott Schulick and Mike Senchak.

The MetroParks Board is made up of five people. Germaine Bennett, Robert Durick, and John Ragan are the three members remaining on the board.

The list of the people who applied includes:

  • Frank Nolasco, Youngstown
  • Douglas Pezzuto, Youngstown
  • Lee Frey, Canfield
  • Jarek Esarco, Youngstown
  • Barbara McNeil, Boardman
  • Murray Davis, Boardman
  • Robert McGovern, Youngstown
  • Robert Thomas, Salem
  • Raymond Jaminet, Sr., Youngstown
  • Daniel Kuzma, Youngstown
  • Elizabeth Ramsey, Beloit
  • James Callen, Mineral Ridge
  • Thomas Shipka, Youngstown
  • Gerald Nunziato, Poland
  • Whitney Joy, Youngstown

Judge Rusu has appointed a 10-member committee to screen the candidates and make recommendations on who the next two commissioners should be. The judge, though, will make the final decision.

The screening committee’s next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 19 at the Canfield Library.
