YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Teamsters’ Central States’ Pension Fund covers 400,000 truckers, construction workers and services workers.
Central States asked for monthly retirement checks to be reduced, some up to 60 percent.
Congressman Tim Ryan said the Department of Treasury thought the plan would have gutted pensions too deeply.
“And we just want to make sure, whatever plan central state puts forward, that it’s fairly distributed among all the people in the plan. This was going after a small number of people in the plan,” Ryan said.
Yesterday’s ruling does not mean all of this is over just yet. Central State can resubmit a new plan.
