Truck overturns on Route 46 in Canfield

The accident happened just after 5 a.m. Monday

A semi truck overturned on Route 46 in Canfield, Ohio.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A tractor-trailer overturned Monday morning on Route 46 in Canfield.

The accident happened about 5 a.m. on Route 46, between Shields Road and Kirk Road.

The driver, 61-year-old Ronald McConahy, of Volant, was injured and taken to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center. Ohio State Highway Patrol said he had a suspected diabetic episode, which is believed to have caused the crash.

McConahy was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, but he is expected to recover.

Scrap metal that the truck was hauling was spilled onto the roadway.

Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

One lane of traffic is being maintained in the area as crews work to clear the scene. Drivers should expect delays or choose an alternate route.

It is estimated that all lanes should reopen by noon.
