COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – WKBN 27 First News was recognized Sunday with two big awards from our colleagues across Ohio.

The Ohio Associated Press Media Editor’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet was held at The Hilton Columbus at Easton in Columbus.

The event updated attendees on the latest Associated Press (AP) initiatives, gave out awards and introduced the 2016-17 Ohio APME board of directors.

Best Newscast was awarded to First News at 11 anchor Stan Boney and the WKBN team.

Best Investigative Reporting was awarded to First News Reporter Amanda Smith and the 27 Investigates Team for coverage of the pollution in Mill Creek Park’s water last year.

Sunday’s awards reinforce that WKBN 27 is committed to digging deeper, getting answers to your questions and exposing problems.
