Local corrections officer receives statewide honor

LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull Correctional Institution’s Correction Officer Mark Tucker has been selected as the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s statewide Correction Officer of the Year.

Tucker was also selected as a recipient of the distinguished Ronald C. Marshall Award. He, along with candidates from prisons across Ohio, interviewed for the honor.

Tucker is a 20-year veteran of the Trumbull Correctional Institution, beginning his career at TCI in 1995. He was recognized for his dedication to his co-workers and his selflessness.

After serving 23 years in the United States Army and Air Force, he plans to retire from the military this year. Tucker also volunteers his time providing men and women with self-defense techniques and has instructed self-protection to home healthcare aides to assist with combative clients. He has also been a guest instructor to a community yoga class promoting personal safety.
