YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police said while holding his young child in his arms, a Struthers man was involved in a physical fight with the mother of the child.
Police were called to the Youngstown home of the woman at 11:26 p.m. Saturday. Officers noted that the suspect, later identified as John Grzejka, was holding the child by the arm during the confrontation. Police said the child was screaming in pain while Grzejka was swinging her around.
Both Grzejka and the child’s mother told police that they were being attacked by the other.
Police said Grzejka’s shirt was ripped, and the woman said she was trying to prevent him from leaving with their child. Police said Grzejka’s face and neck was also red as if he had been struck in the face.
Police said the woman also had a red head and neck, as if struck.
Grzejka said he came to the home to take his daughter when the argument started.
He was arrested and charged with domestic violence, endangering children and driving under suspension. Police said Grzejka was also found to have a bench warrant for a failure to comply charge.
He was taken to Mahoning County Jail, where he remained Monday afternoon.
