Canton Central Catholic players celebrate after Clay Davies singles to score the game-winning run.

STRUTHERS, OH (WKBN)-Canton Central Catholic’s Clay Davies hit a bloop single in the bottom of the 7th to punch their ticket to the Regional Semifinal beating Mooney 3-2.

Mooney was looking for their first District Finals win since 2013.

The Cardinals struck first in the game when Chris Lewis hit an RBI-single to left that brought home Jake Lynch.

The Mooney lead would last until the 5th, that’s when Dan Platek singled to right, which would have scored just one, but a fielding error in right field allowed both runners to trot home, giving the Crusaders the lead.

With runners on first and third for Mooney in the 6th, the Cardinals successfully ran the double-steal, plating the tying run.

That set the stage for Davies heroics, and the Crusaders championship.
