Owner of old N.N Moss building makes plans to repair

David Oh plans to re-open the first floor and basement by this fall

GREENVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – The owner of the old N.N. Moss building in downtown Greenville says it’s probably going to cost him at least half a million dollars to re-open the structure.

The building has sat empty since last November after officials with the borough deemed it unsafe, fearing it would collapse. Those concerns even forced a section of Main St. to be closed for weeks.

Tuesday, the owner, David Oh, said he’s pushing to have repairs completed so the first floor and basement can re-open as a food court this fall.

“And then we’ll continue to work on the second and the third floor during the winter months. Because this is the summertime, or coming to summer, this has been very difficult to get contractors because most contractors are already committed to their work,” Oh said.

Oh claims local government officials overreacted to concerns about the building’s condition, adding when the structure was padlocked as a safety hazard it allowed deterioration to get worse because no one was able to get inside to make repairs.
