The Poland baseball team is all smiles with the Division II Struthers District trophy after topping Marlington Friday.

STRUTHERS, OH (WKBN)-Dan Klase drove in the game-winning run with runners on first and second in the 7th to send Poland back to the Regionals with a 7-6 win over Marlington.

The Bulldogs fell behind in the 3rd inning after the Dukes posted four runs in the inning off just two hits.

But Poland would have a big inning of their own in the 4th. With two men on, Eric White hit one over the center fielder’s head for a 2-RBI triple that would cut the deficit to 4-3.

The next inning it was Matt Baker’s turn to come through for his team when he brought home two-runs off a single to give the Bulldogs the lead.

But in the 7th, Marlington brought home an early run to pull within one and later in the inning Brock Begue hit an RBI-single to tie the game, setting up Klase’s heroics in the bottom of the inning.

With the win Poland improves to 26-3 and move on to play Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in the Division II Hudson Regional Semifinal.
