HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – The United Way of Mercer County held an economic summit Friday, gathering leaders, educators and business owners in Hermitage.

The mission was to talk about how they can continue to help children in the area. It was all part of the United Way’s Success by Six program, aiming to help kids get into good daycares and preschools.

United Way Executive Director Jim Micsky said it’s all about education, with the focus on a specific age group.

“We’re engaging in the early education arena, because we know the from birth to age 5 group is so important for a number of reasons,” he said.

Success by Six also focuses on the overall health of children in poverty in Mercer County.
