WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man found guilty of attempting to abduct a Champion woman was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

David Honzu, 58, received the maximum sentence.

Investigators say he attempted to stop a jogger last year on Airport Road.

Carol Matacic, the jogger, said she started to feel uneasy about Honzu’s questioning. She said he tried to lure her into his vehicle by asking her for directions with a map. She said Honzu then came after her, but she was a faster runner and got to a nearby house, where she called 911.

Honzu has been convicted of sex crimes in the past, including rape in 1995 and menacing by stalking with sexual motivation back in 2010.
