Man who escaped from mental hospital pleads not guilty to murder

Authorities say DeAngelo Young escaped from a Massillon mental hospital in February where he had been taken for an evaluation

DeAngelo Young, who escaped from a mental health facility, pleaded not guilty to murder.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man pleaded not guilty to murder Tuesday morning.

DeAngelo Young responded by saying, “That’s me,” when his name was called in court.

He is charged in the death of 22-year-old Devin Damous in November 2014.

Young had previously been indicted in a shooting last August that left the victim paralyzed.

Authorities say he escaped from a Massillon mental hospital in February where he had been taken for an evaluation.

Young remains in the Mahoning County Jail.
