YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A jump in the pool, that’s one way to cool off in the midst of this hot weather.
Youngstown needs lifeguards to make sure you can hang out at the pool all summer.
The city will have enough lifeguards when it opens the Northside Pool in mid-June, but it wants a few more on staff so it doesn’t have to close the pool one day a week.
“It’s very difficult to find lifeguards. There are several pools in the area and they are all out there looking for lifeguards. They did have some classes at the Jewish Community Center, and also the YMCA offered some classes, and we’ve reached out to any students who took the classes,” said Youngstown Parks and Recreation Director Bob Burke.
This summer, Youngstown is opening two splash pads, which are sprinklers that shoot and spray water. The splash pads are going to be at John White Park on the east side and Homestead Park on the south side.
