2016 Northeastern Buckeye Conference Prepper

This past winter, news broke that the rumors were true – the Northeastern Buckeye Conference is disbanding following the 2017-18 season. Beginning the following year, all of the teams (with the exception of Louisville) along with South Range will form the Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC).

Since 1988, the NBC has displayed the stability which many leagues strive to achieve but fall short in the end. With the 29th season upon us, the NBC has only had 11 members on record – three of which have left the conference (Dover, Akron Springfield and Northwest). Each of the 11 all-time members have advanced to the post-season at least once during their time in the league.

Louisville has won 21 straight conference games enroute to three consecutive league championships. Coach John DeMarco graduated a ton but returns his standout lineman Cade Stertzbaugh and receiver Tyler Adams, who became the first Leopard to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark receiving in school history.

Salem, last year, rebounded from back-to-back 3-win seasons to advance to the post-season and play into week twelve. The Quakers began 2015 with 8 wins in a row before falling at Louisville (40-10). Two of the conference’s top playmakers return in Cooper Bezeredi (1728 yards from scrimmage) and Jake Humeniuk (595 receiving yards, 11 TDs) which will help put Salem back in contention for the league crown.
