Howland High graduate collects donation for Trumbull Co. Dog Pound

The donation will help cover the cost of a dog's medical expenses

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – At the Trumbull County Commissioners’ meeting Thursday morning, a recent Howland High School graduate gave the Trumbull County Dog Pound a donation.

Alexis James presented Executive Dog Warden Gwen Logan with a check for $2,800. James raised the money by organizing a 5k run in early May.

This is the third year that James was able to raise cash for the pound through the event. She said each year, the people participating in the run and the money raised continue to grow.

“It’s a great feeling to know that I was able to make a change, even if it was a small change, knowing that I was helping in some way,” she said.

Logan said the money will be put to use right away. The dog pound picked up a 12-week old puppy that had a broken leg recently, and that donation will help cover the cost of the dog’s medical expenses.
