Bad inning dooms Poland in State Semifinals

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – The Poland baseball team fell short, 8-3 Thursday to Hamilton Badin in the Division II State Semifinals at Huntington Park.

The Bulldogs fell behind early in the first inning, but countered with 2 runs in the 2nd inning to make it a 2-1 game. Don Drummond drove in Dan Klase later in the 4th inning to extend their lead to 3-1.

But the Rams came out firing in the 6th inning with 4 hits and 7 runs to break the game open. Poland went through four different pitchers in the inning and finally stopped the rally.

Drummond led the Bulldogs, going 1-2 with 2 RBI’s. Klase went 2-3 with 2 runs scored while Matt Baker also chipped in an RBI.

Poland finishes the season with a 28-4 overall record. Hamilton Badin advances to face Defiance Saturday in the Division II State Championship game at 10 AM at Huntington Park.
