STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – After nine years of serving as priest of Christ our Savior Roman Catholic Church, formerly St. Nicholas Church, Father Bob Bonnot is retiring.

Father Bonnot held a closing mass Thursday with students at St. Nicholas School. The kids made him going away cards and talked about what they learned throughout the year.

Father Bonnot said he planned to retire once he reached 75 years old, and now he is ready to spend his free time doing two things.

“Travel, travel and writing, that’s primarily what I want to do,” he said. “I’ve purchased an RV. I’m working on learning how to handle that, and I will be moseying around the country.”

The beginning of July will be Father Bonnot’s last mass, and then Father Martin Celuch will be taking over.
