Danilov steps down as Mooney boys coach

Sports Team 27 has learned that veteran coach Brian Danilov has stepped down from his position.

Brian Danilov has stepped down as Cardinal Mooney Boys Basketball coach.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sports Team 27 has learned that veteran coach Brian Danilov has stepped down from his position as the Cardinal Mooney boys varsity basketball coach.

He will likely be moving on to Westminster college where he will serve as a part-time assistant coach for the men’s team.

He was hired at Cardinal Mooney in 2012.  Prior to this stint with the Cardinals, he served as head coach at Campbell from 1991-1996, winning a state championship in 1993.

From 1997-2001, he led the Ursuline Irish to 3 district championships, before returning to Campbell from 2002-2011.

He officially turned in his resignation Wednesday and informed the faculty of Cardinal Mooney Thursday morning of his decision.
