Choice Washington, failure to comply, Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested a Warren man early Thursday morning after they said his reckless driving caused him to crash, and he became aggressive with officers.

Police said Choice Washington, 25, was driving, doing donuts at the intersection of Summit Street and Mahoning Avenue around 2:30 a.m., stopping all other lanes of traffic.

After officers activated the lights on their cruiser, they said Washington sped away on Mahoning, cutting off another vehicle.

He led them on a chase down Belmont Avenue and then Prospect Avenue, according to a police report. Officers decided to stop following the car to avoid any potential accidents.

They later found that the car had crashed on Forest Street. Police said Washington emerged from behind two parked vehicles and tried to flee the scene, but followed orders to get on the ground.

Police said that Washington, who was very intoxicated, repeatedly asked officers why they pulled him over, not realizing he had crashed the car.

They transported him to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, where they say he was uncooperative and became violent, hitting a corrections officer in the head with his handcuffs.

Washington is charged with failure to comply and driving under suspension. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
