Traffic tie-ups lessen as Route 11 ramp opens

The $91 million project should be complete by July 2018

The Route 11 ramp to I-80 in Austintown, Ohio is open.

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The section of Route 11 under Interstate 80 in Austintown Township opened early Thursday.

The ramp closed at the beginning of March as part of a project to widen I-80. ODOT crews opened the ramp about 1 a.m.

Project superintendent Dan Kirsch said the I-80 westbound ramp and the ramp to Salts Springs are closing as construction in the area continues.

“We try to get them in and get them done as quickly as possible. Get them open so it’s not so inconvenient for the traveling public,” Kirsch said.

The $91 million project should be complete by July 2018.
