Brookfield Schools appoints first female superintendent

Taylor will officially step into her new role on August 1

The Brookfield Local School District has appointed a new superintendent, who will be the first female superintendent in the school's history.

BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Brookfield Local School District has appointed a new superintendent, who will be the first female superintendent in the school’s history.

Velina Jo Taylor, the current principal of Brookfield High and Middle schools, was awarded the position Thursday during a special Board of Education meeting. Taylor has worked as principal at Brookfield since 2011, and prior to that, she was a teacher for 16 years.

Taylor is taking the position of Timothy Saxton, who was hired by West Branch Local Schools. Taylor will officially step into her new role on August 1, 2016.
