High School Baseball and Softball seasons have officially come to a close for area teams.  Tonight, we shine the spotlight on some individual standouts that have dominated our highlights throughout the Spring.  Without further ado, here’s Sports Director Ryan Allison to introduce our Diamond Kings…Class of 2016.

By the numbers: 114 ab / 47 hits / 14 doubles / 3 triples / 3 hr / 29 rbi / 14 sb / .412 ba
More info: The Bulldogs leadoff hitter batted .412 this season and led Poland with 20 extra base hits, 3 home runs, and 29 runs batted in.

By the numbers: .512 ba / 35 runs / 32 rbi / 3 hr / Mercyhurst commit / D4 2nd Team All-State
More info: The Stangs senior hit .512 this season, with 35 runs, and 32 RBI. The Mercyhurst recruit was 2nd team All-State and is a two-time member of our Diamond Kings.

More info: The Blue Devils pitcher struck out 67 batters and finished with a 1.05 ERA. Larimer also hit .313 and scored 28 runs for the three time District Champs.

More info: The Ohio State recruit will leave Crestview with 7 school records including 19 career wins, and 3 No-Hitters. McDonough racked up 110 strikeouts his senior season. 7 school records including: 3 No-Hitters, ERA, career wins (19), season wins, season K’s, career K’s, game K’s (21, state record)

By the numbers: .528 ba / 33r uns / 32 rbi / 3 hr
More info: The Raiders senior led the area by hitting a staggering .528 this season. Reimold scored 33 runs, knocked in 32, and belted three home runs.

By the numbers: .570 ba / 38 runs / 21 rbi / 20 ip / 19 k / 3-0 / 0.70 era / D2 honorable mention All-State
More info: The Bulldogs won a District title this year, thanks in part to the standout sophomore. Steiner led the team in hitting with a .570 batting average and 38 runs scored.

More info: No one did more damage at the plate for the Flashes this season than Megan Turner. Turner hit .551, with 37 runs, 33 rbi, and EIGHT home runs.

By the numbers: 26-3 / 248 k’s / 1.023 era / 112ab / 36 hits / 13 rbi / .321 D3 1st Team All-State
More info: The Raiders junior pitcher racked up 26 wins in the circle this season. Yanek struck out 248 batters along the way and helped South Range finish as Division III state runner-up.

By the numbers: .333ba / 34rbi / 17runs / 3hr / 20-1 / .80era / 181k’s / D3 2nd Team All-State
More info: The junior pitcher won 20 games this season with 181 strikeouts on her resume. Zigmont also hit .333 with a team leading 34 runs batted in.
