NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Lemonade stands will be set up at all 39 Firebirds Wood Fire Grill locations this weekend to raise money for childhood cancer research.
The restaurant hopes to raise $110,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Days, a foundation named after Alex Scott, who passed away from the disease when she was 8 years old. Scott created “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” to raise money to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
“Fantastic cause and it’s made huge strides,” said Firebirds General Manager Marc Klinger. “It’s taken children that were diagnosed and only had three to six months to live, and now they’re living full lives.”
There will be two lemonade stands at the Firebirds location in Niles; one outside and another by the aquarium inside the mall. They will be open through Sunday.
The Cafaro Company will be matching all donations up to $2,000.
