Howland monastery hosts Egyptian Festival

It is the third year that the monastery has hosted the Egyptian Festival

The nuns at St. Mary and St. John the Beloved Coptic Orthodox Monastery are celebrating the feast of the holy family's entry into Egypt this weekend


HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The nuns at St. Mary and St. John the Beloved Coptic Orthodox Monastery are celebrating the feast of the holy family’s entry into Egypt this weekend.

The monastery at 8640 Squires Lane in Howland is the first one for nuns outside Egypt.

It is the third year that the monastery has hosted the Egyptian Festival, and on Friday, volunteers served food to those who stopped by.

The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
