ORLANDO, Fla. (CNN) – Florida Senator Nelson said the Orlando shooter appears to have a tie to Islamic radicalism, per FBI.

(Sen. Bill Nelson, (D) Florida) “I asked the FBI if there was any connection to Islamic radicalism, there appears to be but the FBI are naturally cautious and waiting throughout to see if this is, the facts emerge. I have checked with intelligence staff and they do believe there is some sort of connection to ISIS, i might say that is not official…. Just to give you an update, everything that I said before, there is a connection to some Islamic radicalism, but we still don’t know the facts. We are going to be very deliberate in what we end up telling you so that we don’t overstate it, but it is true that we need to reach out to the Saint Lucie County, the Fort Pierce area, to encourage all of the people who knew the shooter to step forward and seek out the FBI who is in the area right now and help us piece together what happened to this shooter.”
