Mahoning Valley Scrappers Begins 18th Season

In mid-January, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers named Edwin Rodriguez as their ninth manager in team history. Rodriguez took over for Fredi Gonzalez as the Marlins manager in the summer of 2010. His teams won 48% of their games (78-85) over the next year. He’s been in the Indians’ system since 2012 having managed Carolina (2012) and Akron (2013).

Mahoning Valley’s roster will be revealed later this week but Indians’ draft pick Mitch Longo (14th rounder out of Ohio University) will play in the Scrappers’ outfield this summer. Longo hit .360 for the Bobcats while scoring 36 runs in 2016.
