COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – Governor John Kasich has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately until sunset, June 17 in honor of the life and service former Ohio senator, governor and Cleveland mayor George V. Voinovich.
Voinovich died at his home in Cleveland on Sunday. He was 79.
Kasich’s order read:
In honor of the life and service of former United States Senator, Governor, and Mayor of the City of Cleveland George V. Voinovich, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately until sunset, June 17, 2016.”
