Semi accident on SR 14 in Columbiana Co. injures 1

State Route 14 was closed following the accident and traffic was backed up for miles

A portion of State Route 14 in New Waterford was closed following after a car collided head on with a semi truck.


UNITY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a head on crash between a Jeep and semi truck that left one person injured Monday afternoon.

Highway Patrol said that the Jeep was traveling eastbound and the semi was traveling westbound on State Route 14 when they collided near the center line.

State Route 14 was closed following the accident and traffic was backed up for miles.

The driver of the Jeep, 56-year-old Gregory Carberry, of Brookville, Pennsylvania, was flown to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown. His condition was not released.

The driver of the semi, 63-year-old Randy Sprouse, of East Liverpool, was not injured.

The East Palestine Fire Department was also called out to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation to determine who was at fault and whether or not alcohol was a factor.
