TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say a teenager died after going underwater in southwest Ohio.

Authorities were called to Madison Lakes Park Sunday evening and searched for the teen in a cliff area of the suburban Dayton lake.

Authorities say the teen was found after being in the water up to 90 minutes. He has been identified as 15-year-old Travis Williams.

Police officials tell WDTN-TV several people were nearby when the teen went under and helped look for him. Officials say the lake is an old gravel pit. Swimming is prohibited.

A preliminary cause of death wasn’t immediately released. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office says the Fairborn teen is believed to have drowned. Officials say they suspect alcohol was a factor.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
