CLEVELAND (AP) – Authorities say a 15-year-old boy arrested after leading police on a foot chase told officers he fired two shots in a crowd of people following the Cleveland Cavaliers championship parade.
A 13-year-old girl was shot twice in the knees Wednesday afternoon but survived.
Cleveland.com reports the teen shooter is facing weapons offenses and has been released to his grandmother. Police are working to identify a second shooter who remains on the lam.
Police reports indicate officers broke up a fight between a group of teenagers and tried to arrest a boy, but a 15-year-old girl started pulling him away. They say as officers were talking to the girl, gunshots rang out, sending a panicked crowd running.
