Concerned citizens met to discuss improving the Youngstown community.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, or ACTION, held a meeting on Tuesday about improving the community.

Local leaders and concerned citizens met at St. Edward Church in Youngstown to talk about issues concerning the area.

Each table of people discussed a different topic. Among the discussion was voter registration, the Youngstown City School System and getting a new grocery store built in the city.

“We all work, sometimes in separate worlds, but we crisscross in terms of what we’re doing,” said Jimma McWilson, Vice President of the NAACP Youngstown Chapter. “If we’re going to save our kids, the best way to do that is to lock hands, create a net that they can’t fall through and if they do, have another net underneath to catch them.”

ACTION says it is excited to begin working with the new CEO of Youngstown City Schools, Krish Mohip.
