Donations will be accepted until Friday at 5 p.m. at the shelter

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local animal shelter is doing their part in helping the victims of the devastating flooding in West Virginia.

Falcon Animal Rescue, with help from Jackie Rogers of Falcon Transport, has arranged for someone to pick up basic needs at the shelter and drive them down to Clendenin, West Virginia, one of the areas that was hit hard by heavy rains last week.

They’re asking people to donate basic needs like cleaning supplies, cat food, dog food, towels, diapers and canned goods.

“When we have the means to do it we should all do it for anybody, and they help. Everybody helps each other and that’s what makes the world go right,” said Sherry Bankey of Falcon Animal Rescue.

They ask for donations to be dropped off Friday, no later than 5 p.m. at the shelter on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown. Earlier donations throughout the week will also be accepted.
