PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police say a SWAT situation involving a woman and two young children held hostage has been resolved without injuries.

Spokeswoman Sonya Toler says the series of events began about 4:30 a.m. Friday when a man went to a residence in Hazelwood and fought with another man there, firing two shots. Nobody was wounded, including the woman and her children, ages 5 and 3.

Police responded but the gunmen fled and went to his home. As police went to that address, they learned that the woman and children had followed the man to the second home, only to have him hold them against their will.

Toler says the gunman surrendered about 8 a.m.

Police aren’t yet releasing his name, and Toler says she’s unsure how the woman knew the gunman.
