Williams' attorney said the hospital stay is needed to find out if his client is fit to stand trial

A judge ordered a three-week mental evaluation of the man accused of the gruesome 2014 murder of a 16-year-old girl.


YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A judge ordered a three-week mental evaluation of the man accused of the gruesome 2014 murder of a 16-year-old girl.

Ricki Williams will spend at least 20 days at a state psychiatric hospital.

He is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and intimidation in the stabbing death of Gina Burger.

Police said Burger was killed, and then her body was put in a dumpster outside her apartment. Her body was found at a New Castle landfill just two weeks after her 16th birthday.

Williams’ attorney said the hospital stay is needed to find out if his client is fit to stand trial.
