YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church for Mrs. Beatrice Dixon, 87, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Mrs. Dixon was born November 30, 1928 in Richland, Georgia, a daughter of Willie and Mary L. Carroll Radney.
She had been employed as an inspector with General Motors Lordstown for 23 years, retiring in 1994.
Beatrice was also a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and was a former trustee. She was faithful to many community organizations, the National Council of Negro Women, past president of the Women’s Committee and executive board member of GM – U. A. W. Local 1714; the N.A.A.C.P.; Urban League; the Northeast Homeowners Association and Bryn Mar Block Watch Association.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory her beloved sister, Angie Miles of Silver Springs, MD; four children, Minnette “Pinky” Dixon of Hubbard, Alicia Dixon of Girard, Joy L. Smith of Youngstown, and Christopher Dixon of Bloomington, IL; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dixon, whom she married December 8, 1982 and who passed away December 27, 1995; three brothers, Grover, Joseph and Roosevelt Radney; three sisters, Ozie M. Banks, Lueree Ramsey and Faye Lee Radney.
