Storm takes out power lines, crews working to restore service

One of the biggest messes Ohio Edison is working to clean up is in Struthers

Hundreds of customers are without power after a utility was downed by storms.

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Many people in the Valley woke up to a mess Thursday morning.

The storm that moved through overnight knocked down trees and power lines.

One of the biggest messes Ohio Edison is working to cleanup is in Struthers where a utility pole snapped on Poland Avenue, which caused more than 1,000 customers to lose power.

Poland Avenue is still closed from Como Street to Helena Drive, although power has been restored. The road should be open by late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Ohio Edison outage map, there are only 7 customers without power in Mahoning County, 102 in Trumbull County and less than five in Columbiana County. Current outage information is available at
