POLAND, Ohio – Arba Donald Yentch, 99, of Poland, died Thursday morning, July 14, 2016 at his residence.
Arba, “Arb” was born May 10, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of Herman and Justina Samuels Yentch.
Raised in Youngstown, Arb was a 1936 graduate of South High School and attended Youngstown College. In 1943 he was inducted into the United States Navy and served stateside in New York, NY. He was honorably discharged December 7, 1945 and returned to the area where he and his wife Margaret made their home in Poland.
Arb was employed as a territorial sales manager and manufacturer’s representative for The Crosby Group of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After retiring in 1979, Arb returned to college and in 1987 earned his Associates Degree in Arts from Youngstown State University.
Arb was a member of the former Struthers Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Poland Presbyterian church where he was very active serving as a Deacon for eight years, Elder for eight years, and numerous other committees. He was also active with the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
His wife of 71 years, the former Margaret Goodridge, whom he married May 25, 1943 died July 4, 2014. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kim Yentch of CA; and four grandchildren, Scott and Robin Walter, and Jonathan and Katrina Yentch.
Besides his parents and wife, Arb was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Walter and brother, Frederick Yentch.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, with Pastor James Berkebile officiating. Friends will be received Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 12:00 Noon – 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
