WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man remains in critical condition Thursday evening after he and his girlfriend were shot at their home on Wick Street.

It happened in the 2200 block around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police said unknown suspects had just tried to rob 37-year-old Raymel Adams outside.

Adams and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Brandi McIver, struggled to keep them out of the house, according to investigators.

“From everybody that we talked to on scene, all the evidence we collected, we’re not sure, but it looks like he was possibly shot outside and then entered the house,” said Capt. Robert Massucci with the Warren Police Department. “When they were attempting to keep them from entering the house, she was shot too.”

McIver was treated for her injuries and released. Adams remains at UPMC.
