New Beaver Twp. restaurant plans to serve wine made from its own grapes

The new Vineyards at Pine Lake in Beaver Township plans to use grapes grown in its own vineyard for the restaurant's wine.

BEAVER TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The new Vineyards at Pine Lake in Beaver Township will host an open house Saturday evening.

The Glista family of Canfield owns the business, and all six members prepared the banquet hall on Friday for their first public event.

“My dad works in the oil and gas industry and so do my brothers, and I’m a teacher,” Jackie Glista said. “This is our first venture into the restaurant catering business.”

The Vineyards at Pine Lake began with the vineyards themselves along State Route 7.

“We actually planted the grapes here by hand as a family. This is the very first thing that took place,” Glista said.

There are 2,200 different varieties of grapes planted. The goal is to have all of the wine served at the restaurant made from grapes grown at the vineyards.

“We can start to see some of our large clusters of grapes that are growing and are getting ready for us here in the fall.”

The banquet hall is fronted by a pond but the best view is from the back patio.

“It is gorgeous and serene out here. Very quiet, very peaceful,” Glista said.

Adjacent to the patio is an area for weddings. Glista’s wedding on July 30 will be the first.

They plan to use the leftover concrete pad from the old Pine Lake pavilion as a sitting area with an outdoor fireplace and furniture.

Moving inland from the lake shore, the space opens up to a hill.

“[The hill] is also part of the beauty because we get some different elevation and different views of Pine Lake.”

Glista says the restaurant is being built halfway up the hill. The front will have a grand entrance and the rear will be made up of windows overlooking the lake.

There are also large wine tanks to make white, red, blush and dessert wines.

“We’re planning to have eight different varieties,” she said.

Next to the wine making facility will be a tasting room with an expansive view of Pine Lake, where there will be barbeque events in the summer.

The Glistas hope to have the restaurant open sometime next year, but it’s still a work in progress.
