AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Volunteers from WKBN teamed up with some of our Caring for Our Community partners from Safelite Auto Glass and Huntington Bank to spend the day building a new house with Habitat for Humanity.

More than 20 people installed insulation and hung drywall at a home on Lake Road in Austintown.

Future owner Tamesha Elliot was among those working on the home Saturday.

“I can’t even express my gratitude, I first thank God of course. But Habitat has worked with me, they get you in different credit counseling, they teach you how to budget so you can maintain your home,” Elliot said.

Habitat for Humanity hopes to hand the keys over to Elliot by November. Building this house is part of their 150 year celebration to build 150 homes in 150 years.

Here at WKBN, this is just one of the many projects our Caring for Our Community volunteers work on every year to help out the community.
