CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The man who’s interested in becoming Ohio’s next governor said Donald Trump might want to be a little nicer to the one in office now.
State Attorney General Mike DeWine is among the delegates and guests at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this week.
Monday, Trump was publicly critical of John Kasich, governor and former presidential candidate, for not endorsing the presumptive nominee.
DeWine said if Trump hopes to win Ohio in November, he should consider reaching out to Kasich.
“We’re now in the stage, we’ve begun with this convention, we’ve begun the general election. General elections are generally about inclusion, not exclusion, and that would seem to me to be the most important thing Donald Trump could do,” DeWine said.
Dewine also said Kasich has always been his number one choice to run for president, he promised to support Trump as the nominee.
“He’s a very popular governor in the state of Ohio. I just believe, really, that Donald Trump really should reach out to him. Donald Trump is the person who’s trying to get elected this year, not John Kasich. So, I think if I was Donald Trump that’s what I would do,” he said.
