Youngstown schools awarded grants for sidewalk improvements

The grant is part of the Safe Routes to School program

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Getting to class is going to get easier for students at two Youngstown schools.

More than $300,000 was awarded to the district to improve sidewalks and crosswalks at McGuffey and Williamson elementary schools. The money is coming from the Safe Routes to School program.

As part of the program, $30,000 has also been awarded to the district to hire an administrator of the funds over the next two years.

Last year, money was awarded for improvements at Taft Elementary School.
