Crews cleaning up Cleveland, RNC wraps up Friday

Crews have been out since midnight Thursday, working to bring down signage and clean up the city

Cleveland has been preparing a year for the Republican National Convention, and some of those preparations include devising a security plan.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Republican National Convention has wrapped up in Cleveland, but crews are still working hard to clean everything up and reopen all the streets.

Crews have been out since midnight Thursday, working to bring down signage and stack nine-foot tall, steel barriers that have been stacked up around the city. They say they’ll continue to do this work through the day Friday and come back Saturday morning to finish up.

The City of Cleveland and Cleveland Police Department have reported only a minimal number of arrests and incidents throughout the entire convention week in downtown Cleveland.  They were prepared to deal with a lot of difficulty, but in the end, less than 25 people total, all week long, were arrested due to altercations between protesters and police.

The media is now on their way to Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention, which kicks off Monday.
