Eastern Gateway hosting open houses at Youngstown, Warren locations

The EGCC opened its doors at a new facility in Warren, Ohio.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Eastern Gateway Community College is holding open houses on both the Youngstown and Warren campuses this week.

There is still time to sign up for classes, and students can register at the open houses.

“We’re entertainment, food, people can come in and talk to instructors. They could register for classes if they’d like to apply. If they have questions about financial aid, they can get those questions answered. Take a tour of our space and see the campus, what’s going on here,” said academic recruiter Janet Potts.

Eastern Gateway has a lot to offer prospective students.

“Well, we have affordable college, for one. We have the lowest tuition rate in the state. Our credits transfer to any state college. If somebody takes classes here, they can transfer anywhere else. We have a Gateway Grant. Students coming out of high school, if they maintain a 2.5 GPA or greater, their college will be paid for so they can earn an associate’s degree for free. And, if they want to continue on to get a bachelor’s degree, that first two years is complete,” Potts said.

Eastern Gateway offers associate’s degrees and certificates. Subjects include education, business, a welding program, nursing and bridge to nursing programs for LPN’s. Paramedics and medical assistants can come to the college and go into the nursing program as well.

The Warren campus open house will be held on July 27 in downtown Warren from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The address is 239 Main Avenue SW.

The Youngstown open house will be held on July 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The address is 101 E. Federal Street.
