MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – Mercer County’s largest and newest retirement facility is in the process of being built while the demand for it in the area continues to increase.
The Lakes at Jefferson, just off Route 62 in Mercer, is 70,000 square feet, and stands on over 38 acres of land.
John Nugent, president of The Nugent Group, is behind the multi-million dollar project, and said there was a big need for it in that area. He also said a lot of seniors who retired to places like Florida are moving back in larger numbers and need places to live.
“We’ve already had people contact us for this facility where their relatives are currently in Florida wanting to come back up here, so they’re closer to local family,” Nugent said.
The facility will have 64 rooms with different types of care, from personal care to independent living.
