Paul Mayer was not seriously injured after flipping his truck twice on Yerke Young Rd.

An Austintown man was charged with causing an accident in Jackson Township.


JACKSON TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – An Austintown man was charged with causing an accident in Jackson Township.

Jackson Twp. Police Chief Greg Taillon said the accident happened at 10:53 a.m. Monday on Yerke Young Road. Police said the truck hit a mailbox, a ditch and then flipped over twice.

The driver, 30-year-old Paul Mayer, was not seriously injured, but he went to St. Elizabeth Hospital to get checked out. He told police he saw a dog, causing him to swerve to avoid hitting it.

The Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving was totaled as a result of the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Mayer was charged with failure to yield. Police said the dog was never found.
