Keys on Offense
Over the past two seasons, Alex Myers has been Farrell’s rock-solid foundation at quarterback. Myers completed 213 of 397 passes (53.7%) while throwing for 3,535 yards and rushing for another 1,161 stripes during that time frame. Alex has since graduated and now coach Samuels must find a new leader on the offensive side of the ball.

Senior Braxton Chapman will look to duplicate the type of success he had a year ago as he rushed for 1427 yards on 207 carries (6.9 avg), scoring 15 times on the ground. Entering last season as only being used on 35 attempts in 2014 (203 yards), Braxton had a breakout season in 2015. Chapman even caught 8 balls for 102 yards. Sophomore Kyi Wright returns as a focal part of coach Samuels’ offense. Wright, last Fall, ran for 102 yards on 18 totes and caught 11 passes for 187 stripes. He also completed 3 of 5 passes for 56 yards. West Middlesex transfer Jourdan Townsend, a sophomore, led the Big Reds in receptions (13), yards (272), yards per catch (20.9) and touchdowns (4) in 2015. Wandell Murray and Kobe Hilton will anchor the offensive line for the Steelers.

Keys on Defense
Sophomores Kyi Wright (137 tackles and 2 sacks) and Tymir Green (69 tackles) headline the defensive group. Senior Pap Keeler comes over from Sharon following a 78 tackle season with 2 picks. Upfront, seniors Wandell Murray (68 tackles) and Tyrese Somerville (45 tackles) both will be back to harass the opposing quarterbacks and to slow down their run game. Braxton Chapman (170 tackles over last 2 years), Joey Ivan (32 tackles, 3.5 sacks), and James Jackson (40 tackles) will also be welcomed back into the mix as senior stalwarts.

Final Analysis
Farrell lost a large and successful senior class from last year. The Steelers have replaced key pieces in the past, and this year, coach Samuels and his staff will be asked to do the same again.
