AKRON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Akron-Canton Airport will now offer daily, non-stop flights to four Florida locations, starting in November.
The airport announced Tuesday that Spirit is joining its network to offer the flights.
Starting November 10, the airport will offer once daily flights to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando and three days a week seasonal flights to Tampa. The airport will also offer four days a week season flights to Fort Myers, starting November 11, and once daily seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach, starting April 27.
The expansion could create more competition for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, which also offers flights to Myrtle Beach, Orlando and Fort Myers.
Spirit’s new flights from Akron to Florida and Myrtle Beach will be available for purchase on Tuesday. Information on fares is available at www.spirit.com.
“This is a great day for travelers who love ultra-low fares and awesome vacation destinations,” said Akron-Canton Airport president and CEO Rick McQueen. “We are thrilled about the five destinations Spirit has selected and can’t wait to see those cool yellow airplanes land here at CAK.“
